Insurgent: The review

Hi so this is my review of Insurgent, I'll try to remember everything, my mind is like a sieve! Since the movie has been out a while I suppose it not much of a spoiler now but just in case.
SPOILERS BELOW, YOU DONT WANT TO READ IF YOU DONT WANT THE MOVIE SPOILED.

So the movie starts of with Jeanine and the traitor dauntless, Jeanine is projected on to a screen with a message of 'turn over all divergent, they are a threat to their society'. This goes on in the ruins of the abnegation sector of the city. While on the other side of the city near the amity, Tris, Four, Caleb, and Peter, and I think Marcus(like I said mind like a sieve!) are on the run. What I thought was cool was before they actually arrived at amity, they did a dream like sequence of them arriving where tris runs ahead and when she gets there Will, who she killed in the last movie is there and everyone looks at her knowing she shot Will. Including Christina and Four, who she refuses to tell for fear of them hating her.
Then they actually arrive in amity and Tris cuts her hair! And I don't mean I quick snip of the spilt ends, I mean to the point of a pixie crop, which in the book comes a little later, but in movie form you have to make things flow faster.
The sets for amity were amazing and really visually stunning. Then we have this lovely scene of
Four with children, I mean come on Theo James with children that is just too cute. Like how cool would it have been if they actually did end up having children in Allegiant. Like they just lived happily ever after, but no! Don't get me wrong I totally understand the ending of Allegiant and I could see it coming, it's cool because it's not like other books where they have a happy ending as such. So in a sense its more real but still.
But then there's fight between her and Peter, he says something about its her fault her parents died and well she goes for him. And so they get haulled into an office type room along with four and Caleb by Johanna, played by Octavia spencer, who is not their faction leader but like their spokesman. In the book amity do not have one leader they have spokespersons.
As they bargaining for one more day, the dauntless traitors including Eric turn up. Funny fact: I didn't know until I watched the extras on my divergent dvd that Jai Courtney is Australian. And so a cat and mouse kind of chase ensues but Peter rats out where they are so then the chase really gets going. Then they're running through the forest, Tris and Caleb cross the train tracks and the Four literally crosses just before the train smashes into him. Do not try that at home because frankly it won't end well!
They get on the train to find factionless, fighting happens and its reveled that someone in factionless knows Four, Fours mum,who was supposedly dead well she's alive and to top it off she is the leader of the factionless.
The set for the factionless was, just like the amity sets, visually stunning and I would have loved to have seen them for myself. I would have liked to have seen a bit more of factionless but oh well. So Evelyn, Four/Tobias's mum wants to take down Jeanine and abolish the factions. She wants Tobias to help her do that by forming an alliance, to which he turns down. Evelyn tells them that Candor is where the faithful dauntless are staying and so Tris and Tobias, sorry about the shift in name from Four to Tobias I'll stick with Tobias from now on, head to Candor but Caleb stays to help and trust me that's not a good thing. With the introduction of the Candor buildings and finding the Faithful Dauntless we finally after missing out in the first movie are introduced to Uriah! I mean I loved Uriah in the books and I think I was slightly heartbroken they didnt add him in the first movie. But what with time restraints and getting the main important parts in was more important. But hey we got him in the movie now. Although to be honest I would of liked more Uriah, really I would of liked more of the secondary characters. Marlene who is played by Suki Waterhouse, I thought needed more scenes because otherwise it slightly doesnt make sense who some of the newly introduced characters are if you haven't read the book. Although then again time restraints and trying to fit the most important things in.
So next comes one of the most anticipated scenes for me, the truth serum scene. Its one of my favorite scenes in Insurgent. I really liked Theo and Shaillene's acting in the scene. Because unlike Tobias, Tris has secrets from that day from how her mother died trying to protect her and the box, then how she shot will and then how her father died again through self sacrifice like her mother.
I think credit where credits due because in this movie Tris has I guess a form of PTSD and is still grieving for everyone she lost but at the same time carrying on because the 'war'  is just getting started and so all those secrets and pain just stays bottled up, because shes afraid of what those closest to her will think of her. So the scene where she gives in and reveals how she shot Will was quite well done and showed the pain keeping it to herself and fighting the serum was doing.
Woah that was deep!
After the truth serum Tris is talking to Uriah and he says and keep this in mind for future reference, something about her scary boyfriend. That is when traitor dauntless come in on a zipwire, bear in mind they're on the rooftop, and start shooting but not to kill to see who responds to the serum in the bullet type injections. If they wake up after being shot they are divergent. They gather up some of the people, the awake ones. In walks Eric and Max( Yeah I forgot what his name was for a minute, don't judge me!) And this is where things get a little trippy and strays a bit from the book. Eric pulls out this handheld device, which is meant to say how divergent a person is. Because Jeanine needs divergent people to help open the 'box', but the divergents she has captured and used, have died before completing the task. The task being a huge massive simulation for all the factions, so the higher the divergence you would think the better they would be at completing the mass simulation. Now they test Tris and suprise suprise she has I think it was 100% divergence. Yeah 100%. So then Eric is all  'I cant believe it' and says that she is what they have been looking for. Then just as they try to head to Erudite headquarters Tobias comes to the rescue! Max ends up escaping. Yeah nice one on that! Although same cant be said for Eric because there and then the faithful dauntless hold a quick trial for him and execute. With the parting words from Eric to Tobias of 'at least he can live withwhat he's done, can he? (something like that) Which I liked but I did prefer it in the book especially where just as he's about to shoot Eric, he says 'be brave Eric' which is what the dauntless say. Kinda wish they would have kept that in the movie.
So with that the dauntless decide screw this we're not going down without a fight And decide to form the alliance with Evelyn and the factionless. While in factionless hq, yeah let's call it that, so at factionless hq just as they are getting set to fight Erudite disaster strikes. The trackers that jeanine shot in the candor HQ attack are simulation ready type things. So she takes over Hec( Shauna and Lynn's little brother) Marlene and Christina. They are standing on a ledge on the midst of falling to their deaths, but first Marlene, under simulation , says that more people will die unless the divergent turn themselves in. While Marlene is speaking Tris and Tori climb to rescue but only manage to save Christina and Hec. Meaning Marlene falls to her death. I think what I liked about the scene in the book is Tris debating who to save, they were on the rooftop in the book and Tori and Christina swapped roles. Knowing they couldn't save all 3, I really liked that bit in the book. It also gave Christina and Tris that spark of building bridges moment and turns into a moment of forgiveness for what happened with Will.
So with Tris being selfless and everything shes decides shes not going to let anyone else die for her. So she goes to see Tobias and spends the night with him. Yes that means sex! And sneaks out and heads to Erudite HQ.
Tris soon finds out that Caleb, was helping Jeanine, Something tells me he wont be getting brother of the year award?!
Okay I cant really review this bit as I really needed the toilet so I missed the bit between Tris and Caleb talking in her cell up to the moment they think the simulation killed her, I also missed Tris finding out Tobias is being held as well. Boo you Coca Cola and needing the toilet! But Tris is not dead just paralyzed and Peter takes Tobias to her. Aww the feels when she woke up, Especially after the simulation with Tobias in, especially when Tris is like 'you're real?' and Tobias is like 'Yeah I'm real'. like 'scuse me, I'm just drowning in a puddle of feelings, OTP.
What I really missed was in the next scene where Peter helps Tris and Tobias escape, is more explanation on why Peter is like 'you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours'. Although Miles Teller was genius in this role, his humor bought a new element to Peter. So they set to the task of completing the mass simulation to open the box. Which they just in time as Erudite storm into the room and hold them hostage but then Factionless storm in while the message in box plays out to the whole city and the wall gets destroyed. In the end scenes everyone is scene heading to the wall. And then we see Jeanine in a holding cell awating a trial but then Evelyn comes in and they talk (memory blank sorry!) Then Evelyn shoots Jeanine. The end. Okay I'm going to be a bit honest I liked the movie ending but I think I preferred the book ending. But thats not to say it wasn't a good movie I loved it! I'm now stuck because in the book, the wall had yet to be destroyed and factionless with Evelyn had all the power. So in that sense I don't know where Allegiant part 1 (yes the finale is a 2 parter, its like Hollywood's new trend for Book to movie sagas) Not that I'm complaining because it puts of the ending of Allegiant, If you've read the book, you know what I'm on about. I mean I have put off reading the book for the very reason of the ending!

Sorry this review has took so long, and if this review has literary errors. I AM SO SORRY! I wasn't even planing to make the review this long but if you did read it, Snaps for you! (Sorry Mean Girls reference)
A little update on my life, Pearl is coming home tomorrow. Yes our new puppy has her homecoming tomorrow, how my cats are going to take that, we'll wait and see.
But yes I'm hoping to do a post on it next weekish? (don't hold me to it though, but some point in the coming weeks!)
