Illumicrate - book box unboxing review

Hi about early December I signed up for Illumicrate. Illumicrate is a book box subscription, which you receive 4 times a year. I have wanted to sign up to a book box subscription before but all the ones I've looked at have been from the U.S.A which when you add a customs charge, it becomes quite expensive. I once bought 4 shirts from hot topic, thinking I had paid all the charges but then it got held back at the post office because I had to pay a customs charge, so I swore never to never do something like that again. So when I found this new company Illumicrate and that is was based in England, so free postage in the uk, I was thrilled! So like the ultimate bookworm that I am, I couldn't resist signing up for Illumicrate. Well that was December and I have been eagerly anticipating February for it to arrive!

Here it is!!!

So this is what it looks like on the inside (sorry about the backdrop of my bed, I did retake the photos later but they were quite dark.)

So the first thing in the box is the Illumicrate information card. It detailed everything in the box and a little more information about it.
So first I saw this candle. Its A Darker Scent of Magic candle from Simple Candle Co. Ive smelt in and I can see how the scent is called Grey London. It does remind you of London, but more of what I imagine London smelt in the olden day. To be honest I am not the best at describing scents, but it smells nice!

Next is this fabric pencil case, a very bookish inspired pouch by Elena Illustrations. I think I might use it to put my makeup brushes in when I am taking them with me for a concert or something like that. Its very pretty and a very unique design.

Now these have to be my favourite thing that came in the box...

These cute little bookmarks are so cute. I especially love the ship one with 'I ship it' written on it. So now when I have a book and I ship two people in it I can bookmark it and with a ship! Its called the love boat set by BeeDoo.

Another thing that I loved are these pencils. They are by Popple and Ping and each have a bookish quote on them. The turquoise/blue/green pencil says 'A good book has no ending.' Which is very true.
The pink one says 'I'd rather be reading.' Which again is very true, its a constant thought for me haha!
And the yellow one says 'Read.Write.Repeat.' Which yet again is very true. These pencils just sum me up really!

Now onto the book. The book for this months Illumicrate is *dramatic drumroll*.....
Truthwitch by Susan Dennard!!!
Excuse the bedroom clutter and look at how stunning the book is. And again sorry about the lighting and how you can't see half the title!

I have heard people talking about this book so I was pretty pleased that I will be able to see if its any good. Its one of those books you've heard people talk about and you want to read but you have other books higher up on the list. If you know what I mean. My mum joked to me the other day that I still hadn't read this book, but I will! What was cool was it came with a bookmark, postcard with an exclusive message from Susan Dennard and a signed bookplate. I've never had a bookplate but I've heard about what they are. The bookmark is the Threadsisters bookmark and its from Daydreaming Designs and its inspired by the book Truthwitch!

Additional little extras in the box were a lemonade recipe
from the book The Boy Next Door, a tote bag and bookmark
from the book It Girl and a bookmark
and badges from the book The Dark Days Club.

And that was my Illumicrate unboxing! I'm sorry its taken me such a long time to post this! I had plans to do this just before I got my new computer but things pulled me away from doing it. I really loved getting the Illumicrate box. I would definitely recommend it for you bookworms out there. I don't know whether I am getting the next box because well money issues. LOL! But I will sign up again for it because well I love getting new books and I'm always on the hunt for book related things!
If you want to subscribe, I believe
subscriptions are open for the next box. It's £29.99, that doesn't include shipping costs, and once you buy your first box your subscription automatically renews until you cancel it.
Here is the website for you for further details - Illumicrate website.
I have another post coming up on Monday/Tuesday which is pretty special. So look out for that!
Thank you all for reading, wow I am actually getting good at this scheduling thing I have so many posts coming up. It's an achievement!
Until next time
Sophie
